The Management of Aging Services (MAS) program at UMass Boston began in 2003 as a collaboration between the Gerontology Department and the Division of Corporate, Continuing and Distance Education.

Students are offered a choice of either an MS Degree or a graduate certificate in Gerontology with a focus in the growing field of aging services. Students who opt for the graduate certificate in Management of Aging Services may continue toward the MS degree as credits earned for the certificate can be applied to the MS program.

Aging services include long-term care, service-supported housing, community-based services, marketing to an aging population, and health services for those requiring chronic care.

The Management of Aging Services programs at UMass Boston afford professionals in the aging network the opportunity to broaden their perspectives and develop skills in policy development and analysis, program management, administration, and finance with a focus on the aging population. Many classes are available online and on campus classes are offered at times that are convenient for working students.
