Welcome to the MSPA Program

Public service is of great importance to the mission of UMass Boston. The Master of Science in Public Affairs (MSPA), located at the university’s John W. McCormack Graduate School of Policy Studies, has been educating leaders in public service since 1984.

The MSPA provides graduates with the knowledge and skills needed for effective public leadership. It combines study of local and regional political economies, public management and finance, policy analysis, and policymaking.

Graduates of the Master of Science in Public Affairs program gain the analytical, technical, professional, and managerial skills essential for effective work in the public sector.

  • Gain Important Skills. MSPA courses in budgeting, organizational behavior, management, and program evaluation increase your on-the-job effectiveness.
