The Betty Taymor Scholarship Fund

A Scholarship Fund in Support of the Program for Women in Politics & Public Policy, part of the Center for Women in Politics and Public Policy

The Betty Taymor Fund provides financial support in the form of scholarships and stipends to women enrolled in the Center's graduate Program for Women in Politics & Public Policy. The Program provides both academic training and professional experience for women from diverse backgrounds who aspire to careers in public service.

Named for Betty Taymor, the founder of the Program, the Fund assists women with financial need to gain access to the Program. To this end, the Fund provides scholarships and stipends to women who are academically qualified but need financial assistance in order to participate. It is a goal of the Fund to assure access to the Program for all qualified women, regardless of ability to pay. Over 50% of the women who enter the Program work full-time to support themselves and their families. For some, completing the 250-hour internship component of the Program means losing income. Women from disadvantaged backgrounds and under-represented groups frequently need tuition assistance in order to participate in the Program. Established in 1992, the Fund has provided scholarships each academic year to women in the Program who have demonstrated academic excellence and a commitment to public service, as well as financial need.

The Fund seeks support from private donors, corporate sponsors, and foundations to increase the number and value of scholarships it can provide. The Betty Taymor Fund is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. All contributions are tax deductible.
