Executive Recruitment

  • Princeton, MA: Town Administrator (now closed)
  • Winthrop, MA: Town Manager (now closed)

Interim Management Services

  • Provided Interim Town Manager for the Town of Hopkinton
  • Provided Interim Town Manager for the Town of Princeton

Local

  • Advised Boston about content and format of Boston About Results quarterly performance reports
  • Secretariat for MassStat, helping municipalities using statistics to improve programs and lower costs.  Meetings held so far have focused on public works and police personnel management.  The next meeting will focus on inspectional services.  Email us at collins.center@umb.edu if your municipality is interested in participating

  • Advised the Executive Office of Administration and Finance on MassGoals in FY2010 House 1 budget
  • Facilitated management conference for Executive Office of Administration and Finance

Municipal Savings Services

  • Working with a group of municipal finance officials to develop a financial management practices checklist, to explore the feasibility of "privileges for performance", and to find ways to increase the supply of trained and qualified municipal accountants
  • Conducting a study on school energy spending trends in Massachusetts to determine if those with the greatest three-year decline offer replicable lessons to others
  • With Rappaport Institute at the Harvard Kennedy School, completed study of financial effects of group health insurance management changes made by City of Springfield and Finance Control Board.
  • Developed catalogue of projects with demonstrated municipal savings or revenue enhancement opportunities: Savings Tools & Alternative Revenue Techniques (START) (PDF)
