The Elder Economic Security Standard: Measuring Costs of Living for Elders in Massachusetts
Brief Description:
The Elder Economic Security Standard will determine the income and supports elders need to live modestly in Massachusetts depending on their circumstances. The Standard is intended to give a more accurate economic assessment than the poverty level of how well elders are doing. Looking at housing, health care, and other expenses of elders, the project will provide a framework to analyze the interconnection of income and expenses that affect seniors' economic well-being. This framework can be used to develop policies at the local, state, and federal levels appropriate to the needs of elders. The project will develop an Action Agenda to help elders address rising housing, health care, and long-term care costs.
